OK, I think we’re all aware of the proposed 2am curfew looming over several Melbourne councils, but guess what? The Commercial Hotel in Yarraville isn’t in those councils! Which means, exemption or not, you can still wander through the front doors at 2:01am if you so desire, but with the entertainment on offer from 10pm, you’ll want to be there earlier! Thursday nights it’s ‘Go West’, a drag show with a difference, while on Saturday nights it’s ‘Sex & The City, The Drag Show’ (I’m not game enough to ask who’s playing Mr Big!). For Queen’s Birthday weekend the Commercial is kicking open the doors at 9pm for a night of ‘Las Vegas Ville’, complete with cabaret-style entertainment, showgirls and DJ Merkin til late.
