Thanks to many a night spent with a new acquaintance who likes to round off his hard day with a glass of wine or two, I’m becoming quite fond of a drop that doesn’t contain ice or bubbles; so the DTs Wine Appreciation Society day this Saturday should be right up my alley. The drop of the day comes from down south, with Tasmanian wines such as Frogmore Creek and Forty Two Degrees South on offer. Bruce at the pub will take down your bar stool reservations, or just talk dirty down the phone line between pouring beers. This is usually an afternoon savoured by classy people who like to sample a variety of wines in a friendly and warm environment for a mere $5, so I guess my attendance should lower the calibre of clientele for the day! WINE APPRECIATION SOCIETY @ DT’s Hotel, 164 Church St (cnr Highett Street), Richmond, Saturday July 12, 5pm. www.dtshotel.com.au
