Who’s afraid of the big bad queer, asks Rachel Cook?

Serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer murdered at least 17 men and boys between 1978-1991
Imagine if the fundamentalists are right. What if we, the queers, are
the unnatural, perverted, sick individuals they claim us to be?
What if there is a hell and we’re all heading there?
Could thousands of years of persecution have actually been warranted?
Could it be that we really are the second class citizens our Prime
Minister deems us to be; could it all be true?
There’s been a lot said against us in the name of religion, psychology
and evolution, and maybe its time we took a good long hard look at
ourselves; After all, could so many have been so wrong for so long?
Freud said that homosexuality was the result of psychosexual immaturity, writing in his New Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis (1933 ) that homosexuals, “have failed to accomplish some part of normal sexual development.”
In his 1935 ‘Letter to an American Mother’, Freud wrote, “We
consider (homosexuality) to be a variation of the sexual function
produced by a certain arrest of sexual development.”
And in the beginning, God said, “Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind: it is abomination.” So far, not so good.
Then some scientists said we have unusual brain structures, although
they’re still unsure whether we’re born with different brains, or
whether the brain changes after years of being homosexual. Others say
it’s all about bonding too closely with our same-sex parent, or because
we didn’t bond enough with our same-sex parent.
There’s the rationale that homosexuality is a mental illness, a
disease, a moral weakness like lying or stealing, the result of sexual
abuse or a case of demonic possession. Oh, and there’s also the ‘gay
gene’ theory. No-one seems to agree on what causes it, but one thing’s
for sure, they don’t like it.
Given the plethora of possible causes, it seems that being gay is never
the outcome of a good situation. To many we’re the weak link, a cause
for embarrassment. They hate us, and maybe rightly so.
Did you know that over 43% of serial killers are known to have had
homosexual experiences? It’s an astounding figure when you take into
account that serial killers are a very, very rare bunch, (but don’t let
this cat out of its gruesome bag, the enemy has enough ammunition
already). And we’re responsible for some of the worst music in the
world; well, for encouraging it, anyway. And if you take away the arts,
like serial killing a category we’re over-represented in, then what
good are we to the masses?
No-one has had such bad PR since Jesus Christ, and like him, we’re
often the sacrificial lamb. Believers say they’re still waiting for the
Second Coming, but I say it came a long time ago, in the form of the
modern day homosexual.
We roam from village to village, preaching our right to a place in the
world, hoping someone will listen, and again, like Christ, we are
betrayed. JC once said, “one of you will betray me”, perhaps casting a
knowing look in Judas’ direction. If the world’s queer population were
to make this statement… Let’s put it this way: we couldn’t swing
a cat without hitting a Mr Iscariot.
Are they right? I don’t know, and I don’t care. Maybe I am a sick
perverted unnatural mentally ill diseased bastard. But I’m here to stay.
