mr-g-250.jpgTop-rating Australian comedy smash-hit, Summer Heights High has been acquired by HBO for North America and the BBC in the UK, in two landmark deals.

HBO, America’s premium pay television channel, plans to add Summer Heights High to its 2008 comedy line up.

In a separate deal, ABC Commercial has licensed the series to BBC 3 for the UK.

Summer Heights High was a hit with Australian audiences when it screened on ABC TV in late 2007.

Its peak episode captured over 40% of the television audience under 40 years old. (Oz TAM data).

Dear Pete,

I did not find the irony and satire when I was verbally abused in the main street, called poofter, faggot, pedophile, child molester by a guy the same age as the person this wanker was portraying, obviously you have not been attacked before, this program justifies this sort of behavior or "satire"!

The first time I watched this pathetic show, it showed a sketch where the main actor was walking around in a school yard abusing a guy saying "bloody poofter" over and over.

My partner and I have never watched this stupid unfunny show since!

Not funny!
