Melbourne identity Dean
Murphy (pictured) recently competed in the XII FINA World Masters Championships
in Perth.
In a tough competition featuring divers from all over the
world, he won the three metre event (a seven dive competition) by 30 points,
and came second in the one metre competition, missing out on gold by 18 points.
“The strongest competition came from the Netherlands and Germany,” Murphy said, adding that
he was very happy with his performance.
“This was the first competition for me since the Outgames in
Montreal, where
I won silver on the one and three metre springboards.”
His next big diving events are the Outgames in Copenhagen in July 2009, and the FINA World Games in Sydney in October 2009.
