Protesters dressed as giant condoms were attacked outside St
Francis’ Catholic Church on Sunday while objecting to the
Pope’s stance on condoms.
The group called the Coalition of Compassion handed out
condoms to churchgoers and chanted, “The Pope is wrong, put a condom on.”
“It became a bit hostile,” spokesperson Tim
Cole told MCV.
“A few people in their
sixties approached us and started pushing us and trying to take our costumes
off. One of our members was hit with a handbag by a church-goer.”
Cole said a member of the church’s choir
spoke to the group and said he supported their message.
