Gay Mormons demand respect

p4_news_pic_300.jpgMembers of a support group for gay and lesbian Mormons are demanding that the leaders of their faith, the Church of Latter Day Saints, make a precise and all-encompassing statement about homosexuality at the church’s upcoming General Conference.

The members of Affirmation, as the group for LGBT Mormons is called, want their church to state that homosexuality is neither a sin nor a disease, and to call on the parents of LGBT Mormons to love and respect their children.

“I am hopeful that as time goes on, things will continue to shift both in our perceptions and in the way we are perceived by the church,” Affirmation member David Nielson (pictured, far left) told the Salt Lake City Tribune. “We shouldn’t have to choose between our faith and our sexuality.”

There's no such thing as a gay Mormon, it's totally against its teachings.
