newspage6-250.jpgPressure is a Privilege: Lessons I’ve Learned from Life and the Battle of the Sexes is the first book in more than 20 years from lesbian sports icon and social activist Billie Jean King.

Initially outed in a palimony suit in 1981 by an ex-lover, which resulted in her losing almost all her professional endorsements, King – who won a staggering 20 Wimbledon titles during her legendary tennis career - finally came out openly in 1998. In 2000, as coach of the United States women’s tennis team, she became the first openly lesbian coach of an Olympic team.

The book is dedicated, in part, to King’s partner Ilana Kloss, ‘who gives me the strength and support to keep living the dream’.
