Archbishop OKs gay sex

It has been revealed that the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, who recently called for a ban on gay priests in the Anglican Church, once believed that faithful gay relationships were ‘comparable to marriage’, the news agency Reuters reports.

“I concluded that an active sexual relationship between two people of the same sex might therefore reflect the love of God in a way comparable to marriage, if and only if it had about it the same character of absolute covenanted faithfulness,” Williams wrote in letters to a psychiatrist in 2000 and 2001, before he was appointed Archbishop.

In related news, the recent once-a-decade Lambeth Conference, which failed to unite Anglican bishops over the issue of gay clergy, has declared that it is AUS $2.6 million in debt.
