ABNORMALLY ATTRACTED TO SINTori Amos Universal 4 stars This is Tori’s tenth studio album, but her first on new label Universal Republic – and it sounds like this change has rejuvenated her. Her last two offerings, The Beekeeper and American Doll Posse, seemed to run out of steam a bit. Having said that, even at her worst, Tori is a pleasure to listen to. From opener ‘Give’, a wonderful piece of Portishead-esque trip-hop, and the sultry jazz piano of ‘Mary Jane’, to the mesmerising epic ‘Lady in Blue’, with its stunning guitar work, Abnormally Attracted to Sin is a real keeper. ‘Welcome to England’ has been lifted as the first single, but it’s actually a lowlight for me – it just sounds a bit generic. But maybe that’s the point – it’s probably the most radio-friendly track on here.
