Do me a favour and create an image for me in your mind: think of four skinny dudes from NYC in chewing gum jeans, Chucks sneakers, retro tees and shaggy hairdos playing a modern mix of New Wave revivalist, with a generous helping of post-punk attitude and good old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll on the side for good measure. Meet The Virgins.

They’ve supported Jet and opened for Sonic Youth and Patti Smith, creating an underground buzz amongst lovers of raw indie rock; and now they’re experiencing personal fame with this impressionable, self-titled debut album. Whereas these fellas could have got caught up in the pressure of being rockstars, they’ve opted for a more melodic approach to their music; engaging more of a poppy English sound than the mullet rock of the States.
