I don’t know why the gay press got sent this record, or whom it’s marketed at, or even how to review such a CD, but let’s give it a red-hot go. For the uninitiated, it’s a spicy spread of sitars, pepas, gogonas and sarindas with cooling bells, cymbals and percussion on the side. I hate to use these words, but to my ignorant ear these tracks all do sound the same. The lack of vocals, the similar tempo and obvious aim (to shake one’s belly) of these recordings leads to a numbing sense of deja vu from one track to the next. I even tried to discover a little more about the orchestra, but the term ‘legendary’ obviously means more to the marketing department than it does the internet, because it’s easier to find documented proof of Tom Cruise’s homosexuality than it is a bio of these guys. PS: what’s with the cover art of a sheila flashing her norgs? Come on now.
