‘POKERFACE’—LADY GAGA [UMA]
As a gay pop journo, watching the meteoric rise of NYC’s Miss Crazy Lady is like being a child showered in bags of sticky candy. Because as those other great gay-cons Madge and Kylie are trapped in their history and struggle to produce any semblance of cutting-edge music, it’s these shiny young toys that are bringing the danger back into pop.

Lady Gaga pushes buttons. Decked out in threads that are retina-frying bold, her moves are as bitchin’ as her beats. She has the arrogance of youth pinned to her sleeve and incorporated into her fashion forward posing. ‘Pokerface’ has a c-c-c-c-catchy chorus that is p-p-p-p-perfect and tongue-in-chic witty at the same time. It’s a package you’ll want to be a part of. Club mixes by Dave Auld do the expansive doof doof club thing to keep the disco DJs on board.
