Jesse’s finer points are easy to list: his youthful appearance (‘I’m not a boy, not yet a man’), his pretty face, his come-hither eyes, his plump lips and his smooth chest. The problem is his music, and the lameness of a young white boy attempting mainstream American RnB. For me, the two are incompatible. And if his music is aimed at the preteen Nickelodeon audience, then why is the video for ‘Leavin’ so sexed up that even the plasma gets fogged up? Jesse gets semi-naked and pashes some chickie babe, before going in for the dry hump. It’s incongruous with his Hanna Montana connections, and will have the Baptist mums flicking the switch to off. Attempts at disco coolness from Bimbo Jones and MSTRKRFT do nothing to make it more palatable.
