Futurism is not an album for the feint of heart. It’s mean, fierce, and scary; like a robot dance party fuelled on high-grade neutrons.

Missing are the vibrant vocal house tunes of Tenaglia’s past, now replaced with a selection of moody hypnotic tech beats from underground teams like Afefe Iku, Bumpin’ Ugly, Fred Giannelli, Dave Angel and Magik Johnson. These thick rhythms are very drum-biased, combining the traditional patterns of tribal drumming with the steely-edged harshness of computer-generated melodies. This sure ain’t the kinda of compilation you’d pop on for housework motivation (unless you take acid when you’re Spray ‘n’ Wiping), but more for one of those heavy workout sessions with your Sir in the basement dungeon.
