I was browsing the net one afternoon looking up the stats of HIV infection, and imagine my surprise and disappointment when I found out that the highest rate of infection in Australia is in my age bracket (I’m 47).
This was backed up by my doctors, and an experience I had at a sex-on-site venue when the guy I was going to be intimate with refused to use a condom.
Some people are working on a faulty premise: they think that if they become infected, by the time they become symptomatic a cure will be available. This is a terrible concept and shows a total lack of respect to people like me who practice safe sex and value life.
I have lost too many friends to HIV. How many more people have to become positive before we get a kick in our complacency, I wonder?
