December 1 is World AIDS Day, a day to remind people that the responsibility for stopping HIV/AIDS belongs to all of us.This year’s theme is ‘Enjoy Life. Take Control. Stop HIV/AIDS.’
The theme aims to send out the message that if people can take personal responsibility, by being informed about how they can protect themselves and others, then there is no reason why they can’t enjoy life and, at the same time, stop the spread of HIV/AIDS.
To publicise the theme, the Victorian AIDS Council is seeking people to volunteer their time to sell Red Ribbons in the Melbourne CBD tomorrow, Friday, November 28 – and no, it’s not too late to get in there and make a difference! Shifts start at 7am and continue until 7pm, the requested minimum time commitment is two hours, and you would be working with another volunteer at your nominated position. For further details and/or to volunteer your time, please feel welcome to contact Sarah via

If you are unable to volunteer on the day but would still like to contribute your time, you can order a box of Red Ribbon products to sell. For more information or to order a box of ribbons, please contact Carolyn on (03) 9865 6700 or via

The proceeds from the sale of Red Ribbons directly support Victorian men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS. For further information on events during AIDS Awareness Week and World AIDS Day visit: www.worldaidsday.org.au
