Raunchy, glamorous, hairy, bent and beautiful: the best of Melbourne’s drag artists mingle with some slick interstate guests. Your MC for the evening is the sleazy, slinky Ms Lewdy Lush, while performing for your pleasure are Crystal Love (a beautiful Sister Girl from the Tiwi Islands, NT); Molly Bashfull (an amazing acrobat from Circus Oz in stripper drag); Switch (two gender-bending aerialists from Brisbane); Melbourne’s charismatic drag king, Rocco D’Amore; the sizzling hot Koko Mas$; the hip-hop style of Justin Teliquer and his dancing dudes; the adorably wicked Bust Herr; and DJ Pansy Pantz, the cutest DJ you ever heard playing til late.

p11_cover_cont_402_image2-250.jpgHAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

A one man circus story of love - told through physical comedy, high level circus skills and vodka. Devised and performed by Ben Bryant, who holds Australia's most unique combination of degrees: one in Electrical Engineering and the other in Circus Arts.

After working as a professional engineer, Ben decided to become a circus performer.  He attended the National Institute of Circus Arts in Melbourne for three years full-time and completed his degree in circus arts in 2006.

Since then, Ben has been performing at festivals around the world including: Belgium, Switzerland, Poland, Scotland, Ireland, Wollongong and Germany.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME @ North Melbourne Town Hall (Festival Hub), October 4 – 11, 6:30pm (5:30pm Sundays).

p11_cover_cont_402_image3-250.jpgHITLERHOFF

You can’t get much camper than this: an ironic melange of David Hasselhoff and Adolf Hitler: together at last!

In this jackboot-black comedy, the life stories of the Hoff and the Fuhrer are fused together, creating a lovable Frankenstein's monster who is huge in Germany.

Have you ever pondered the connection between Pamela Anderson and international communism? Ever asked yourself what KITT had to do with the invasion of Austria? Ever considered the disturbing similarities between Hitler's Aryan fantasies and the blonde, blue-eyed dream-world of Baywatch? Now you can!

Hitlerhoff is a Molotov cocktail of pop-culture and propaganda, banality and evil. While its controversial subject matter will inevitably offend some people, the show’s satire raises important questions - about the dangers of celebrity-worship, and ambition itself.

HITLERHOFF @ North Melbourne Town Hall, September 29 – October 11.

p11_cover_cont_402_image4-250.jpgSHATTERED REFLECTION

Gay playwright Darren Brealey’s bracing black comedy, Shattered Reflection, was born from a newspaper report into illicit drugs in the corporate sector, where drug abuse is reportedly much higher than in other sectors of our community.

Christine suffers from mental illness, and a personality disorder that’s exacerbated by her addiction to a cocktail of illicit drugs and alcohol. She holds degrees in Arts Science and Business Management, but finds her role as the Divisional Manager for an international manufacturing company far from pleasurable.

Something that does satisfy her is the regular services of a rent boy. But things get complicated when grocery boy Shane, who’s delivering Christine’s weekly order of wine to her apartment, is mistaken for Oscar, the male prostitute who she’s ordered. And what will Ben, who’s madly in love with Oscar, make of all this?

A comedy about madness, morals, and keeping your pants on!

SHATTERED REFLECTION @ Guild Theatre, Union House, Melbourne University, Parkville, September 23 – 28.

p11_cover_402_image5-250.jpgSPILT MILK

Fresh from their tour of Victorian schools with RAV arts2GO, Westside Circus bring their first professional show to the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

Equipped with red noses, eccentric costumes, and a tower of aluminium scaffolding, the Westside Circus performers are bendy, strong and dexterous. These four young circus performers play hard, bounce off one another, and throw each other in the air, in a new work which explores emotional isolation and mental health, and which is made especially for audiences of adolescents and families.

Westside Circus is also presenting a second show this Fringe: Escape Hatch, by 35 young performers from local and newly arrived communities. Come to both shows and enter a draw to win a free Circus Workshop for you and your family!

Check out www.westsidecircus.org.au to find out more.
