Camp Xmas with Kaye
Written by Andrew Shaw

Drag performers frock-up to support seniors at Christmas Deck the halls, hang up the baubles, clear the throat for Carroling, Camp Xmas is an afternoon of fun and frivolity for gay and lesbian seniors, their friends and family.

While for most Christmas is a time of giving and sharing with family and friends, for many more it is a time of isolation and loneliness. Older folk, in particular senior gay men and lesbians, are even more at risk. With this in mind a host of performers are donating their time to bring a little Christmas cheer to the elders of our community - and absolutely everybody is welcome.

Heading up the entertainment on the day are local drag personalities Barbra Quicksand, Kaye Sera and Connie Lingus.

Also donating their talent are singer/songwriters Michelle Parsons and Brad Schmidt. And for icing on the cake, there will be a special appearance from Will Conyers and team from ‘Broadway at Bedtime’, JOY 94.9FM’s smash hit radio show.

This Christmas afternoon soiree is supported by Vintage Men, a social and support group for mature gay and bisexual men and their friend, and the Matrix Guild of Victoria, founded by and for the benefit of lesbians over forty years of age.

Camp Xmas at the Grand Ballroom of the South Melbourne Community Centre, corner Park Street and Ferrars streets, South Melbourne, Sunday, December 7, from 2.30pm.
