ALCOHOL
Moreland Hall is running its ‘Alcohol: Considering Change?’ workshops on the last Wednesday of every month. The two-hour program is for those concerned about their drinking, and covers potential harms and risks associated with drinking, and strategies to reduce. GENDER ISSUES
For those with gender issues, The Melbourne Gender Centre will be opening a Drop-In Centre in the near future initially between 10.00am - 3.00pm every second Tuesday. Are you a HIV negative man in a relationship with a HIV positive man? You are not alone. The Negative Partner’s Group (NPG) is an eight-week group starting in July. It aims to provide a safe and confidential environment where you can meet other HIV negative guys in the same situation as yourself and get support. The NPG will be held at the VAC/GMHC, 6 Claremont Street, South Yarra. A sliding scale fee applies. SPRING BALL
Bookings are now open for the third annual Spring Ball at 8pm Saturday September 6 at the Richmond Town Hall, organised by Melbourne’s Metropolitan Community Church. Tables of five or ten are available, as are individual bookings. WOMEN’S ART
Diverso is a non-profit collective that produces events for and with women in the arts. Diverso nights are held on a bimonthly basis featuring a great line up of performance artists and musicians and ending in the early hours with chilled DJ sets. YOUTH
What is homophobia? St Kilda Youth Service has launched a new project that aims to answer this question and raise awareness of homophobia through a short film directed and produced by local GLBTI youth and supported by the City of Port Phillip. Young people from all walks of life are invited to share their personal stories and opinions as well as their artwork and creative enthusiasm. The film will take the form of a documentary, but will not be restricted to a purely conversational form. We are after everything from poetry to music to visual art to showcase the talents of GLBTI youth. Contact Tammy:
