Perhaps you caught the spectacular debut of vitriolic performance poet Yana Alana and her band the Paranas during last year’s Melbourne Fringe, in a show which went on to win the festival’s award for Best Cabaret.
Maybe you saw them wreaking comic mayhem at Midsumma earlier this year, after which they were nominated for a swag of Green Room Awards, taking home the gong for Best Director in the process.
Even if you’ve never seen them before, all you need to know is that this wickedly entertaining woman (who sings like an angel and dances like a gazelle) and her superb all-grrrl band are back. Featuring guest stars The Town Bikes (Melbourne’s mistresses of deranged burlesque), Bite Me Harder is a revised, reinvigorated production, and a show you won’t want to miss!
YANA ALANA AND THE PARANAS in BITE ME HARDER @ The Arts Centre, Fairfax Studio, Thursday July 17 to Saturday July 26 at 7:30pm. Bookings: www.theartscentre.com.au or 1300 136 166.
